Welcome to THE Furze Platt Sixth Form!

Furze Platt Senior School has a strong history of success at Sixth Form level, of which we are justly proud. There are 300 students in our broad, inclusive Sixth Form, which has its own dedicated block, complete with a Common Room for students, classrooms and laptop and desktop facilities.

Our success is based on our vision of achieving excellence for each and every one of our students, whatever their ability and whatever their personal ambition. We have a unique pathway model in our Sixth Form that is matched to students’ abilities and learning styles, giving Furze Platt Sixth Formers a genuinely personalised experience right from the start of their time with us. We offer a wide range of courses that are mainly A Level, but we also offer a variety of Cambridge Technical and Level 3 BTEC courses, as well as the opportunity to re-sit GCSEs in English or Mathematics.

Furze Platt has strong progression rates to some of the country’s top universities - our students often enrol at Oxbridge and Russell group universities. However, our breadth means we also assist students in succeeding right across the Higher Education spectrum mainly through Honours Degree Courses, but also through Foundation Degrees. As well as our university students, we also provide close and high-quality support, information and guidance for those students wishing to undertake employment or apprenticeship schemes.

We believe that a student’s Sixth Form years are a significant point in their transition to adulthood and we are committed to ensuring our young people acquire the skills and qualities that will help them to thrive in the wider world. Students benefit from daily interaction with a personal tutor from our highly skilled team, who provide ongoing support to our young people throughout their post-16 qualifications. Students also benefit from our varied seminar programme with regular exposure to outside speakers and lecturers.

Wellbeing is firmly part of our values, and students have access to organised recreational activity each week including our fully equipped fitness suite. Students are encouraged to be leaders in the Sixth Form, wider school community and even beyond Furze Platt, with many offering their time as volunteers and mentors.

We are incredibly proud of the Sixth Form here at Furze Platt and we hope that our values and aspirations for our students are clear in these pages.
