'Guys and Dolls Jr' - message from West End cast
Our school musical production 'Guys and Dolls Jr', was performed by our talented students in our school Theatre between Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th February 2024, with an additional matinee performance for local junior schools on Monday 5th.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our show including the official cast in the West End!
Feedback from a local junior school:
"Thank you (and all your talented performers) for the amazing performance of Guys and Dolls that we were lucky enough to watch on Monday afternoon. The performance was outstanding and you have some incredibly talented performers (and staff who helped them reach that level of performance). The children really enjoyed the performance and it acted as a source of inspiration about what can be achieved in plays and musical theatre (which we have been studying).
Please pass on our thanks and admiration to all. It was brilliant!"
'The original production opened on Broadway November 24, 1950 and ran for 1,200 performances. A 1976 revival, featuring Robert Guillaume and an all-black cast, ran for 239 performances, and the hit 1992 revival with Peter Gallagher, Nathan Lane and Faith Prince ran almost as long the original! The film version, starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra & Vivian Blaine (recreating her role as Adelaide), had the highest box-office gross of 1955.
“Guys & Dolls” won 8 Tony Awards (including music & lyrics) and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award. The 1992 production won a Tony for Best Revival, and its cast album was awarded the Grammy.'
