Friday 10th July: Non-uniform (mufti) day in support of Thames Hospice

On Friday 10th July, we will be holding a non-uniform (mufti) day in support of Thames Hospice as part of the wonderful 'Trunks Across the Thames' art trail.

As many of you know, Furze Platt Senior School students have been involved in decorating two elephants, Scout and Borough, which will be on display in Maidenhead from 13th July to 13th September. We are incredibly proud of the students' creativity and hard work, and we hope you will have the opportunity to visit them over the summer. They can be found at:

  • Sip & Conquer, 120 High Street
  • Thames Hospice Shop, 51 High Street

To support this fantastic cause, we are asking for a suggested donation of £2 for students wishing to take part in the non-uniform day.

We understand that some families may not be in a position to make a donation at this time, and we would like to reassure you that no student will be excluded from taking part due to financial circumstances.

Whilst students will be wearing their own clothes, we ask that they dress appropriately for a normal school day. Please ensure that clothing does not include offensive slogans and that the following items are not worn:

  • Crop tops
  • Onesies
  • Costumes or fancy dress
  • Backless or halter-neck tops
  • Camisole-style tops

Skirts and shorts should be of an appropriate length (around knee length), and students should wear suitable footwear such as shoes or trainers. For health and safety reasons, flip-flops, Crocs and open-backed sandals are not permitted.

In line with our usual uniform policy, fashion or cultural headwear should not be worn. Religious head coverings may, of course, continue to be worn as normal.

House Point Challenge!

If your child manages to snap a selfie with either Scout or Borough over the summer, they will earn House Points! Simply email your selfies to HoH@furzeplatt.net, making sure to include your child's name and tutor group.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and generosity. Every donation, no matter how small, will help Thames Hospice continue its invaluable work supporting local families. We also hope you'll enjoy taking part in the Trunks Across the Thames trail and spotting Scout and Borough around Maidenhead over the summer holidays!
