Due to the extended red weather warning, school will remain closed on Friday 26 June

⚠️🌑️Extended FPSS closure on Friday 26 June due to red warning

πŸ“§Please see the latest email from Dr Morrison for full details πŸ“§

The UK Health Security Agency have extended the red warning for extreme heat up to 11pm on Friday 26 June. Given this (and other) heat warnings, FPSS will remain shut as we protect staff and students in line with the guidance provided.

πŸ“Œ The following information provided earlier in the week remains in place for Friday:

πŸ“š All Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students will be set work online via Class Charts. There will be no ‘live’ lessons as this allows students and staff to schedule this work for the cooler parts of the day.

πŸ’™ We realise that this will be a concerning time for some students. Our Pastoral and Learning Support staff will be checking in with students to make sure that they are fine.

πŸ†• As a result of the extended closure the following will also now occur:

πŸ“ As detailed in our Head of Sixth Form Mr Ging’s communication on Tuesday, PPEs scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday had been rescheduled for Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July. Those scheduled for Friday will now happen on Wednesday 15 July. Year 12 will have study leave on those three days.

πŸŽ“πŸ€Sixth Form Taster Days will not occur. We realise that many students and their families will be off on holiday in the next few weeks and therefore it will be difficult to reschedule these as in-school events. Instead, Mr Ging will be sending his assembly and information digitally. This will include work that needs to be completed by September.

πŸ‰ The tag rugby tournament scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled by the organisers.

🌊 Please do remind your children to stay safe in and around rivers, lakes and more: https://www.rbfrs.co.uk/your-safety/water-safety/

Thank you for your support with this matter and many apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Looking at the UKHSA and Met Office websites the temperature is due to cool next week and we fully expect to reopen on Monday 29 June.

We look forward to welcoming your children back to FPSS then.
