Holidays in term time

Furze Platt Senior School promotes the importance of good attendance to all students. Excellent attendance is celebrated in the end of term assemblies. The school works closely with the Education Welfare Service to ensure all students attend regularly.

There is a very clear link between attendance rates and high achievement. Except in the most exceptional circumstances, holidays during term time will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and may result in a fine being issued. Parents should make an appointment to discuss any such requests with Miss Lewis, Deputy Headteacher, before the holiday is booked. Unauthorised holidays could mean the issue of a fixed penalty fine by the local authority.
