Sixth Form Open Evening: Thursday 27th November 6-9pm

We are delighted to announce our Sixth Form Open Evening will take place on Thursday, 27th November from 6-9pm.
We are very much looking forward to seeing Year 11 students and their families in school for this event on Thursday 27th November 2025. There is no need to register for this event in advance.
Our Sixth Form Open Evening is the starting point in the admissions process for the next academic year and the evening gives a great opportunity for students and their families to come to school, learn all about what subjects are like in the Sixth Form and have their questions answered from teachers, students and the Sixth Form team.
Below, parents and carers will find the timings for the evening, along with some other details on how the evening will run.
The evening is an in-person event and will consist of a main presentation in our school Theatre, followed by five subject presentations in classrooms around the school.
The structure for the evening is as follows:

Parents/Carers should arrive at 5.50pm and make their way to the Theatre for the welcome presentation that will begin promptly at 6.00pm.
The main presentation for the evening will outline the key aspects of the Sixth Form and give important information regarding Sixth Form pathways and entry requirements, along with information on pastoral structure, extracurricular and general Sixth Form expectations.
Subject presentations will be running throughout the school but mainly concentrated in the English, Science, Art, and Tech blocks. Maps and room locations will be available when you arrive to show you where these presentations are. Should families wish, there will also be current Sixth Form students on hand to guide and advise you throughout the evening.
All subject presentations will last 20 minutes with a 5-minute break period to allow families to move to their next chosen presentation. A bell will sound to signal the end of each 20-minute period.
I would like to take the opportunity to remind parents and carers that students are advised to visit the full five subject presentations to gain the most information out of the evening. Many students will know what they would like to study with us in the Sixth Form, however some may still be undecided; and so, having a full range of subject information may prove useful in making the most appropriate subject selection.
All subjects will have their presentations and subject information guides available on the Sixth Form section of our website. The 2026 academic year prospectus will also be available on the website nearer to the Open Evening which will provide students and their families with further details.
We use an online portal (Admissions+) for student applications and will open it up after Open Evening and applications will close at 9am Wednesday 7th January 2026.
Please note Taster Days are 25th and 26th June 2026 for all students holding a conditional offer.
Registration for Sixth Form is in person on GCSE results day Thursday 20th August 2026.
PLEASE CONSIDER THESE WHEN BOOKING HOLIDAY
Please note if you have an EHCP, your application to the Sixth Form will not be able to proceed until a consultation from the local authority has been received and responded to by the Inclusion team at Furze Platt Senior School. If the school feel that they are able to meet your special educational needs, then the application will then proceed in line with the usual process.
FPSS will not re-open applications once the portal closes in January 2026 and we do not hold a wait list. Should you wish to apply after the deadline has passed then we will accept late applications only in person on GCSE results day, Thursday 21st August 2025. Please bear in mind that we cannot guarantee some subjects will be available as they may be full or may not be compatible with other options selected.
Please click on the image below for our Sixth Form Prospectus for September 2025 entry. We will publish the new prospectus for September 2026 entry shortly before Open Evening. Please be advised that we review our subject choices and minimum requirements each year and so these may change for September 2026.
