Sixth Form Admissions Consultation 2022 (now closed)

Consultation on proposed Admission Arrangements for Furze Platt Senior School for entry into Sixth Form from September 2024.

This consultation is open for 6 weeks from Friday 21st October until 5:00pm on Friday 2nd December 2022.

Furze Platt Senior School is an academy and is its own admission authority. When an admission authority wishes to make changes or admission arrangements or those arrangements have not been subject to a public consultation for at least 7 years, then they must consult to ensure all views are heard.

Furze Platt Senior School is consulting on the basis that there are some proposed changes to managing oversubscription for admission into Sixth Form from September 2024 onwards.

While the majority of the policy remains unchanged from the current version, there are proposed amendments in the tiebreaker criteria:

  1. Priority will be given to students where there are spaces available in more of the courses they have opted for (and met the entry requirements). If there are still not enough places for all applicants once Tiebreaker 1 has been applied, applications will be prioritised using Tiebreaker 2.
  1. Priority will be awarded based on proximity to the school measured in a straight line from the address point of the student’s house, using Google Maps.

The criteria for managing oversubscription for admission into Years 7-11 from September 2024 remain the same as now.

Please find a PDF of the proposed new policy below. Copies can also be obtained from Furze Platt Senior School.
