Miss Bassett has started her maternity leave. Two NQT language teachers have been appointed for September; one to replace Mrs Hales and one to teach the lessons presently taught by Mrs Avellano and Miss Bassett, as well the extra lessons for the additional class in Year 7.
Teaching and Learning
French materials have been updated for KS4.
The department has viable groups for all three languages in KS5 next year.
There has been a 50%+ take up for next year’s KS4 courses; there will be two German, two Spanish and one French class in Year 10.
Controlled assessment activities have begun in all Year 10 groups, rising to the challenge presented by the new GCSE course.
Several colleagues contributed to the Easter revision programme and hopefully this will have helped students fulfil their potential.
Visits
The arrangements for the trip to France in July 2010 are almost complete. Mrs Jack and Mrs Hales are grateful to Mr Neill, Mr Sheppard and Miss Tomlin for agreeing to accompany the group with them. 41 Year 7, 8 and 9 students will be participating.
Mrs Jack is planning a trip to Cologne Christmas markets in November, and Mr Monroy is considering a visit to Spain during next year.
