Year 10 students were entered for their written exam in June. They have spent this year preparing and were feeling positive after the exam. We look forward to seeing the results. Year 11 will be working solely on the 60% practical element of the GCSE next year.
On Friday 2nd July, Music and Drama are running a joint trip for A Level students to participate in a workshop run by the lighting and sound technicians. The work there may attract students to the optional technical theatre unit of the A Level.
Arts Day
Drama, Art, Music, Dance and English were involved in the Year 7 Arts Day with a theme of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, a children’s book written by Maurice Sendak. In Drama, students created a ‘wild thing’ using only their hands and ping pong balls! The final performances have been filmed and will be shown on TV screens around school.
Extra-curricular
The department has led a number of theatre trips, including Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn and Lilly Through the Dark by The River People.
Prospective GCSE students have been invited to see Woman in Black in London at the end of term as an introduction to the GCSE course.
The Drama and Music department have chosen to put on the musical production of Alice for upper school students next year.
