Religious Education
Religious Education is taught to all pupils in the school in KS3 and KS4. Each child receives two lessons per fortnight.
Our aims are to encourage pupils to think about, question and respond to religious ideas and practices and to understand the value of religion on the lives of individuals, communities and nations.
Pupils are given the opportunity to think for themselves, to examine evidence, work out their own positions and beliefs, to express those ideas and be prepared to listen to and respect the views of others.
We follow the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Agreed syllabus in KS3.
Year 7
Belief in our community , Creation stories, The Bible, Festivals, Islam.
Year 8
An understanding and response to the life of Jesus, Rites of passage.
Year 9
Buddhism, Marriage and family life, Issues of live and death.
Years 10 and Year 11
At KS4 we follow the Edexcel GCSE course.
Modules studied:-
Religion and the media, Social responsibility, Social harmony, The environment, Believing in God, Crime and punishment, Religion and medicine, War and peace.
All work reflects the Christian tradition of this country as well as reflecting the fact that we are part of a multi-cultural society.
Throughout, we encourage our pupils to consider what is implied in commitment to a faith and how religious belief is often a positive influence on people’s lives.
