Business Studies
The Business Studies department specialist teachers', benefit from the use of specialist facilities, equipment and support material including fully equipped personal computers classrooms. GCSE In Years 10 and 11 we offer GCSE in Business Studies. The pupils receive five hours tuition in each GCSE subject every fortnight. The syllabus consists of five modules:
Scheme of Assessment: Written paper - Foundation Tier (Grades C-G) or Higher Tier (Grades A*-D) - 2 hours (75% weighting). The examination is based on a Case Study which the Examination Board provides, and draws on all topics studied. One piece of coursework - 25% weighting. OCR National Level 2 Business. This is a one-year course offered in Year 12. The course is to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of business functions, environments and operations. It accredits candidates' ability to carry out a range of tasks and recognises their achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the workplace. The units covered are:
The qualification will ideally suit students seeking a vocational qualification as an entry to the business world. AS and A2 Applied Business In years 12 and 13 our pupils study a vocational A/S and A2 level Business Course. The AS and Advanced GCE enables students to develop both a broad understanding of business principles as well as focusing on specific pathways (e.g. Human Resources). In addition, the qualification covers a mixture of Units with some theoretical input and clear practical emphasis. The qualification provides students with the essential skills, knowledge and understanding of the business sector and develops career opportunities for a range of business contexts as well as enabling entry to Further or Higher Education programmes, training or employment.
