Learning Gateway

What is the Learning Gateway?

The gateway gives you access to a range of information about your child. It helps you keep track of your child's attendance, attitude to school and progress. You can also see some of the other information we hold about your child.

What you can see on the Learning Gateway

1. Attendance details

You can see information about your child's attendance. The information is shown as sessions. A day is divided into 2 sessions - morning and afternoon. You can see if the absence is authorised or unauthorised. If you want more information on how attendance affects achievement then follow this link.

NB. A register is taken first thing in the morning by your child's tutor and in the majority of instances this is done electronically so that you can see if your child has arrived at school. Sometimes your child's tutor may be absent or your child may be taking part in a tutor time activity. A register of attendance is still taken but it is only updated on our central system later in the day. During the day various other checks are made on the accuracy of the information provided. By 11am each day a child's attendance at school will have been verified by more than one teacher and if your child is not at school it is likely that you will be contacted to verify the reason for the child's absence.

A detailed session by session summary of your child's attendance is also available.

2. Student Conduct - Achievements

Tutors record student participation in extra -curricular activities and general contribution to the school community. This information is collected throughout the year and updated intermittently. Please encourage your child to take part in these activities. Research shows that students who take part and contribute are happier and more likely to succeed in their studies. Contribution and Participation is rewarded with badges and certificates.

3. Progress and attainment information

The latest progress information is shown. This includes grades, targets and attitude to learning. A full description of our reporting grades can be found by following this link. The information here is also published on your child's progress checks.

Stamp totals are shown. Stamps are awarded for following our four ready to learn rules. The totals are upgraded every 2 or 3 weeks by counting up the stamps in your child's planner. Children with the most stamps are entered into a prize draw. Stamp totals also contribute to house points in our annual House Champions competition.

4. Student details

You can see some of the information we hold about your child. Please check that contact and medical details are correct and let us know of any changes.

5. Timetable

Your child's timetable is displayed here along with a list of their teachers and classes.
